Lochgelly's Station Road is closed after a manhole chamber collapsed.

The chamber, which sits in the middle of the carriageway between the railway bridge and Lochgelly High School, failed earlier today.

Scottish Water has shut the road to allow engineers to carry out repairs and to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.

Fife Council - who announced the emergency closure at 1.35pm - said there is currently no confirmed timescale for the work and has advised that bus services using Station Road will be disrupted while the closure is in place.

Passengers are being urged to check directly with operators for the latest updates.

Drivers heading to Lochore Meadows Country Park and Fife Cycle Park are being asked to follow signed alternative routes around the closure.

Scottish Water and Network Rail have been contacted for comment.
