A 22-year-old driver smashed into a lamp-post after falling asleep at the wheel.
The culprit was Logan Fotheringham, of Provost Mill Way, Kelty, who appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on October 8 last year at Queensferry Road, Dunfermline, he drove a car dangerously by falling asleep and colliding with a lamp-post.
He was also driving without insurance.
Depute fiscal Brogan Moffat said that at 3.45am police received calls from members of the public about a car colliding with a lamp-post.
When police arrived, they found Fotheringham and he told them he had fallen asleep.
Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “It was a friend’s car and they had decided to go to a garage five minutes away to buy something to eat.
“It was a stupid mistake on his part.”
Sheriff Krista Johnston fined Fotheringham £480. He was also banned from driving for a year and will have to re-sit his test.
