A new summer school is giving young people a chance to become the changemakers of tomorrow.

The scheme led by Melanie Ward, MP for Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy, is designed to introduce 16- to 25-year-olds from her constituency to the world of campaigning, democracy and community action.

Held in Kirkcaldy, the one-day event will take place on Thursday, August 13, and aims to develop practical skills and inspire civic participation.

Ms Ward said: "I want this programme to help develop the next generation of leaders, campaigners and community voices here in Fife.

"Politics affects every part of our lives, and I want young people in Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy to see that it's something they can be part of: not just something that happens to them."

The summer school will cover topics including community campaigning; parliament and democracy; media and communications; and policy and decision-making.

Attendees will hear from guest speakers from politics and campaigning organisations, offering different perspectives and real-world experience.

No prior experience or education in politics is required, just an interest in getting involved and making a difference in the community.

Ms Ward said: "You don't need to have studied politics or have any experience of campaigning.

"All you need is curiosity and a willingness to get involved and help make positive change happen."

Spaces for the event are limited.

To apply, eligible young people should send their name, age, contact details, and a short statement explaining their interest in the programme to melanie.ward.mp@parliament.uk before July 24.
