MORE than 100 people chipped in during this year’s charity relay at Lochore Meadows, racking up a combined 2,112 miles between them.
To put it into perspective, that distance would take a superhuman solo runner from Ballingry all the way through Europe and into Russia.
The event was organised by the Meedies Running Club, lasting 24 hours from 7pm on Friday.
Committee member Karen Hunter, 58, said: “At every hour we had someone out. Through the night it can be challenging, but we were fortunate as we had a lot of members who wanted to do a marathon or half marathon distance.
“So many people had their own achievements on the day. We do it yearly and it’s open to anyone who wants to run, walk, or jog. Families can sign up and take a stroll, and everyone who finishes at least a 5k gets a medal.”
Through a sign-up fee and donations on the day, more than £1,000 was raised to benefit Benarty Foodbank and BRAG’s community pantry.
Karen, who personally ran five laps of the loch, continued: “We also put an appeal out to provide food and toiletries. We got a huge amount, and we’re sorting it out to deliver.”
The group was supported throughout the event by St Andrew’s First Aid, and thanked Fife Council for its help.
