Outstanding Fife volunteers honoured for their dedication

The Volunteering and Voluntary Sector Awards, organised by Fife Voluntary Action (FVA), highlight the impact individuals and organisations make to communities across Fife through voluntary work and civic engagement.

This year’s ceremony took place on Tuesday, June 2, at Rothes Halls in Glenrothes.

Kenny Murphy, chief executive of Fife Voluntary Action, said: "Each year, these awards remind us of the extraordinary people and organisations working tirelessly to support communities across Fife.

"It is both inspiring and humbling to hear the stories behind the nominations and to celebrate the volunteers, community groups, and voluntary organisations whose dedication makes such a profound difference to people’s lives."

A total of 265 nominations were received across 18 award categories, with the judging panel selecting three shortlisted nominees and one winner for each category.

This year’s panel included representatives from health, education, and voluntary organisations, including the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, FVA Board, Fife Carers Centre, and the University of St Andrews.

Deputy provost councillor Dave Dempsey and category sponsors presented the awards, with the event hosted by Original 106 breakfast presenters Dave and Vanessa.

Linda Watson, head of volunteering development at FVA, said: "We were delighted by the number and calibre of nominations received this year, which reflects the incredible dedication, passion, and impact of volunteers and voluntary organisations across Fife.

"We hope these awards inspire even more people to consider volunteering.

"Whether you can give a few hours a month or make a longer-term commitment, there are opportunities to suit all interests, skills and experiences, and every contribution can make a real difference."
