Bowhill Mini Highland Games: Family fun, races and caber toss

The free community event was held at the New Scout Hall, at the end of Orebank Road, from 1pm to 4pm, offering all the spirit of a Highland Games on a smaller, family-friendly scale.

Children threw themselves into traditional events including races, shot put, music, dancing and even a mini caber toss, giving them a taste of the iconic Highland Games experience.

Organisers said the afternoon was all about bringing the community together, with all events free to enter and open to everyone.

Families were encouraged to bring along chairs, snacks and friends as they settled in to enjoy the fun.

The Mini Highland Games act as a lead-in to the main Bowhill Highland Games, which are due to take place on Sunday, September 13, at Wallsgreen Park, with free admission.
