Even more wall space at Cardenden’s Andrew Kirk Butchers will be taken up by certificates, after the establishment won recognition for yet another of its products.

Judges at the 2026 Scottish Craft Butchers Awards in Stirling gave the establishment’s Ribeye Steak a silver accolade for its ribeye steak earlier last month.

Mr Kirk, 52, said: “To get recognised by our peers is a good thing, but all these awards mean nothing if people don’t come in. We’re well supported and get customers from every part of Fife, whether that be in our shop or on our website.

“The ribeye is one of our best sellers, we hang it for a couple of weeks before blowing it out and always use the same suppliers.”

Around 40 awards have been racked up since the shop first opened on Station Road over a decade ago, for products such as pies, steaks, and sausages.

The owner explained that it helps get customers through the door, commenting: “You’ll get them in once but if you’re not good, they won’t come back.”

General manager of category sponsor John Scott Meat, Jason Ward commented: “A personal favourite, the classic ribeye steak is up there with the finest cuts of beef available. We’re proud to sponsor the Best Ribeye Steak competition and congratulate all the Scottish butchers who showcased their exceptional produce.

“It’s a true testament to the outstanding quality available at your local butcher, where quality, provenance, and traceability come as standard.”
