A charity match in Lumphinnans has raised an impressive £1000 for two charities.
The match, which was between the Black Watch Veterans and The Black Watch 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS), took place on March 28 at Lumphinnans Sports Hub.
It was organised to raise funds for male suicide prevention group Tartan Talkers and The Black Watch Association, which supports former members of the regiment and their families.
Both charities will now receive £500 each.
Organised by Gary and Lesley, who own The Forty Twa Café in Cowdenbeath, the match was a success.
The final score was 3-2 to the Black Watch Veterans.
Gary Spence commented: “It was absolutely fantastic. It was a really good day throughout.
“Credit to all the boys for coming and playing, especially all the older ones.
“It was brilliant, a lot of the families and all the players and things like that, turned up to participate in the raffles and the auctions and things like that. So that was really good.”
He added that they were “over the moon” with the funds raised.
They are now going to try and organise the match on an annual basis.
Gary wanted to express his thanks to all of the sponsors and also to Christopher Morrison and Daryl Taylor who helped organise, as well as Daniel Stennett who piped them in and stepped up as a goalie on the day.
