A woman took her son and ran from her home after being violently assaulted.
She was grabbed by throat by her ex-partner and pinned to the wall during an incident on New Year's Day.
Reece Greive, 23, of Melville Road, Newburgh, has appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on January 1, at Winding Wheel Way, Cardenden, he assaulted a female by pushing her on the body, pinning her against a wall on two occasions grabbing her by the throat.
Depute fiscal Lauren Pennycook said that during an argument Greive pushed the woman against the kitchen sink.
He then grabbed her by the throat with one hand pushing her against the bathroom door and holding her for around 20 seconds.
She picked up her son and fled the house, shouting to a neighbour for help and the police were called.
Defence solicitor Heather Morrison said: “He’s struggling with feelings of shame about this.”
The court was told Greive was deemed unsuitable for unpaid work because of his substance misuse. This is despite the fact he is in employment as a labourer.
Instead, he was put on a restriction of liberty order for three months, which will be paused for a week to let him go on holiday in Gran Canaria. Greive was also put on a non-harassment order for a year.
