COWDENBEATH Rotary Club hope that the project to see three new life saving defibrillators in operation in the area will be completed within the next few weeks.
It has the three of the life-saving machines purchased, thanks to a grant from the Mossmorran Windfarm Community Fund; and public support from the Central Fife area, which saw more than £6,000 raised.
The locations for the defibrillators, which can provide the vital spark for someone suffering a cardiac arrest, are at the north end of Cowdenbeath High Street, on the wall of Mooreland's Travel; and at Benarty Square in Ballingry, outside the Community Store; while it is hoped that the Lochgelly site will be finalised shortly.
Club president, Craig Bennet, said: “Thanks to the magnificent backing of the public and the Mossmorran Windfarm Trust, we have the defibs ready to be placed and the fitting agent organised, so we hope that these machines will be in place within a few weeks.”
The club raised more than £2,900 for the project through a duck race held at Lochore Meadows Country Park in September, which ignited the campaign to have defibs placed in areas which needed these, and had a further boost to their campaign through the trust, before more funding was raised by a couple of club events.
