Ballingry teen to represent Scotland at Celtic festival

Emily Reddington, a pupil at St Columba’s RC High School, will be taking part in the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in France.

The festival is dedicated to the cultural traditions of the Celtic nations and features highland dancing, Breton wrestling, Celtic music, and more.

A group of Scottish dancers will be heading to Lorient for two weeks, and Emily will join them.

She will set off on Wednesday, July 29 before returning home on Monday, August 10, and will be a dance team member, also participating in a stadium performance.

Emily will be 17 when she heads to France. This comes after she previously took part in New York’s Tartan Week last year at just 15 years old.

However, the teen is in for a busy summer, as she has also been selected to be part of a performance team to travel to Böblingen in Germany.

This is to celebrate the 55th year of the town’s twinning with Glenrothes, with the event taking place between July 2 and 5.

The Ballingry teen is looking forward sharing her passion for highland dancing with others,  whilst meeting people from different countries.
