Kinglassie group has reached £200,000 in donated in grants

Based in Kinglassie, the Nadara Westfield Community Fund marked the achievement with a recent award of £5,000 to Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

The funding will contribute towards the renovation of Mina Lodge, a vital facility that supports children and families facing life-shortening conditions.

Mina Lodge is being used to temporarily house patients and families during renovations at Rachel House in Kinross.

The £5,000 grant will help redevelop the building to ensure it remains safe and suitable for those who rely on its care.

The award marks a milestone for the Nadara Westfield fund, which has now distributed more than £200,000 to community projects since it was launched.

Administered by Foundation Scotland since 2014, the fund has supported a wide variety of initiatives in Kinglassie.

Projects have included environmental improvements, upgrades to recreational facilities, and social and wellbeing programmes, all with the overarching aim of keeping Kinglassie 'vibrant and connected.'

To support continued community access to funding, Foundation Scotland recently partnered with Fife Council and Kinglassie Community Council to host a Funding Fayre at Mitchell Hall in March.

The event brought together funders and members of the public to discuss ideas and explore available financial support.

Fife Voluntary Action also attended to offer governance advice to both new and established groups, helping to strengthen the organisational side of community activity.

A number of key funders took part, including The National Lottery Community Fund, The Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Corra Foundation, and Fife Charities Trust.

Chris Miezitis, Glenrothes Area Community Team Development Manager at Fife Council, said: "The Funding Fayre at Mitchell Hall was a hugely encouraging evening.

Mr Miezitis said: "Seeing local groups and organisations come together with funders in such an open and supportive environment is exactly the kind of community connections we want to strengthen and encourage.

"We were pleased to support the event and ensure people had access to clear information about the support available locally.

"Events like this help build confidence, spark new ideas, and strengthen the relationships we’re developing with the local school, community groups and partners across the area."

The Nadara Westfield Wind Farm Fund usually offers grants of up to £4,000.

To be eligible, applicants must be constituted community groups or charities based within the Kinglassie Community Council area.
