A charity supporting veterans and their families has welcomed a visit from a local MP.
The Poverty Intervention Charity Transforming Scotland (PICTS), which runs the Veterans, Homeless & Community Hub in Cowdenbeath, met with Melanie Ward MP during her recent visit to hear about the challenges facing former service personnel and the wider community.
Ms Ward, MP for Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy, said: "Veterans here in Fife, Scotland and across the UK gave so much in service to our country, yet too many have been let down time and again.
"The work of charities like PICTS is invaluable in helping veterans facing the all-too-common challenges of poverty, homelessness, and isolation."
Founded in 2021, PICTS is a volunteer-led organisation providing support across Scotland, including essentials such as food, clothing, wellbeing services, and a safe space.
During the visit, PICTS shared its work around baby care packs and wider practical support for families.
Katie Banks, operations manager at PICTS, said: "Thank you to Melanie Ward for taking the time to visit PICTS and hear about the work we do supporting veterans and people facing poverty.
"It was encouraging to have the opportunity to share how community support and practical services can help restore dignity and hope."
