Communities in Cowdenbeath, Benarty, Kelty, and Lochgelly are marking International Women’s Day with a week of free events starting today (March 2).
The programme, themed 'Give to Gain', will run for five days, ending on March 6, and aims to encourage women to connect, share, uplift one another, and celebrate the strength and spirit found within our communities.
Cllr Linda Erskine, Spokesperson for Communities, said: "International Women's Day is a time to recognise the incredible contributions of women in our communities.
"This year’s 'Give to Gain' theme is a powerful reminder of what makes our local communities so special — the generosity, strength, and solidarity shown by women every day.
"These events are a chance to celebrate one another, build connections, and take time to focus on our wellbeing.
"I’m delighted to see such a diverse programme across the Cowdenbeath area, and I hope many women will come along, get involved, and enjoy the celebrations."
The week will feature a range of inclusive activities, including dance and yoga sessions, crafts, inspirational speakers, and lunch.
All events are free and open to everyone, with activities taking place across multiple venues.
The programme begins on Monday, March 2, at the Maxwell Centre from 10am to 1pm.
On Tuesday, March 3, events continue at the Benarty Centre from 10am to 1pm, followed by a Women’s Walk at the Willie Clarke Centre in Lochore Meadows from 2pm to 3.30pm.
On Wednesday, March 4, the Kelty Community Centre will host the celebration from 10am to 1pm.
Thursday, March 5, offers events at the Lochgelly Centre from 10am to 1pm and the Bowhill Centre in Cardenden from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The week concludes on Friday, March 6, with activities at Lochore Meadows from 10am to 12pm.
Organisers hope the week of events will encourage even greater community participation and inspire ongoing support for women throughout the year.
