Lochgelly South Primary School has been highly praised by education inspectors for its 'nurturing' approach to learning.
The school received glowing feedback from Education Scotland during a visit in October 2025, with inspectors highlighting its inclusive ethos, positive relationships across the school community, and commitment to pupil wellbeing.
A report from His Majesty’s Inspectors and the Care Inspectorate described pupils as 'happy, kind, and well-behaved' and commended the school’s warm and supportive environment.
Lorraine Taylor, headteacher at Lochgelly South Primary, said: "Our team works tirelessly to ensure every child thrives, both academically and personally.
"This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff and the strong relationships we have across the school and with families and the wider community."
Inspectors noted the school’s strong focus on children’s social and emotional needs, as well as its broad approach to achievement.
The report stated: "The nursery’s high-quality learning environment was recognised as a place where children experience warm, nurturing, and responsive care.
"The school was also recognised for providing a wide range of achievement opportunities, enabling every child to experience success in diverse activities beyond the classroom."
The supportive atmosphere and commitment to inclusion were also singled out in the report, which emphasised the value placed on every child’s individual journey.
Education managers welcomed the findings and praised the efforts of the entire school community.
Alan Cumming, education manager, said: "We are really pleased to see the hard work and dedication of all staff at Lochgelly South Primary School recognised in this report.
"The whole community should be very proud of how they work together to allow children to gain a broad range of activities and experiences.
"There are a significant number of strengths, quite rightly recognised in the report, whilst the areas for improvement identified are no different to those the school has identified themselves."
While the overall tone was positive, inspectors did highlight areas for development, including refining school improvement planning and further developing learning, teaching, and assessment approaches.
Actions are already being taken to address these recommendations according to the school.
The nursery was also praised in the report, with inspectors noting the high quality of care and learning offered to the youngest children.
The school plans to continue building on its achievements, using the latest feedback to further strengthen learning, teaching, and pupil outcomes.
