Drivers in Cowdenbeath will yet again be hit with delays at Bridge Street.
Scottish Water will carry out repairs from today (Friday), with works set to last for two to three working days.
It comes after Fife Council apologised following carriageway upgrades that left the road in a worse state than before.
Councillor Darren Watt said: “Many people will be frustrated as this is the third time in recent weeks that works have taken place on this stretch of road, following the initial botched resurfacing.
“On this occasion, Scottish Water are replacing a ‘noisy manhole cover’ which lies directly on the wheel line of traffic.
“I will be following this up with Fife Council to establish whether these works could have been coordinated alongside the resurfacing, as it is imperative that agencies and authorities work more effectively together to minimise disruption.”
