THERE will be a 15-mile diversion in place for three months due to a road closure on the B9097 near Ballingry.
SP Energy Networks are advising drivers of the "essential" works that will start early next year at the Westfield substation.
The closure will begin on January 29 and is expected to remain in place until April 24.
The firm explained: "This work is required to carry out a Scottish Water diversion as part of our ongoing infrastructure improvements.
"An official diversion route, agreed with Fife Council, will be in place and clearly signposted.
"Please note that this diversion is approximately 15 miles and may add extra time to your journey.
"We appreciate that many drivers will use local knowledge to find alternative routes, but we ask that those unfamiliar with the area follow the signed diversion for safety."

Signs will be installed this week ahead of the work and electronic boards will be in place from January 5 to provide real-time updates.

SP Energy Networks added: "We understand this may cause inconvenience and thank everyone for their patience while we complete these essential works to maintain and improve the local network."
The B9097 runs from Ballingry to just north of Cardenden and, last year, SP Energy Networks outlined plans to increase the capacity of Westfield substation from 275kV to 400kV.
The "transmission reinforcement" was recommended by National Grid Electricity System Operator and is part of the Tealing and Kincardine Upgrade Project'.
