Cowdenbeath’s Rennies bus depot closed its doors for the last time on Friday, causing two dozen job losses.
The site was controlled by Stagecoach and located in the town’s Broad Street.
One former employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Times of “bitterness” amongst workers, who felt that the company were “underhand” in dealing with the closure.
They said: “They promised us at Rennies that nothing would change until next January, but that was only so that none of us would leave before the school contracts ran out this month.
“If they told us the truth we would all have tried to get other jobs.
“There’s a lot of bitterness towards Stagecoach, even from the drivers who have moved to other depos within the company, but they have to pay the bills.”
The Times understands that some employees were moved to Stagecoach facilities in Glenrothes and Dunfermline, but the majority were let go.
“Other firms in Fife were very good, taking them on if they had vacancies.”
Discussing the final couple of shifts, they commented: “Thursday and Friday were both emotional days, because some people left on each.
“They had a barbecue on the Friday, which was actually paid for by the people themselves, not the company.”
Stagecoach said that the team received the same information in a business briefing, that it intended to close the site at the conclusion of this year's school term.
