A PLANNED steam outage is to take place at Mossmorran on Monday.
Local residents are being warned that it "may be smoky" during the outage at Shell's Fife NGL plant on Monday.
A letter to community members from Plant Manager Tyne Bradley explained: "We will be taking a planned steam outage at the Fife NGL plant on Monday, April 21.
"The outage will last one day and will allow us to carry out important maintenance work on our steam pipelines.
"Steam, which is used to minimise smoke from the elevated flare, will be unavailable while we complete this work.

"I would like to assure the community that we have planned carefully for this steam outage and do not plan to use our elevated flare at this time, but in the unlikely case that we do, it may be smoky.
"I apologise in case this may lead to any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
"We have informed the regulator SEPA of our intention."
