Cowdenbeath Bowling Club has issued an appeal for new members ahead of the 2025 season.
The club, established in 1903, has seen its membership numbers dwindle over the years.
In its heyday during the 1970s and 80s, the club boasted 110 male members and 50 female bowlers, with waiting lists to join.
However, this number has now fallen to around 60 members in total.
'Jack High', the club's long-time bowling correspondent, said: "Like many local clubs and associations, memberships are down and existing members play an important part in the continuing success of their clubs.
"We need to increase our membership at Cowdenbeath Bowling Club to endorse this.
"It is a great club!"
The club is located on Bowling Green Street, hidden behind the chapel, opposite Aldi.
Mr High said: "A lot of locals don’t even know it exists!
"We actually found new members when the club was used for voting as the local polling station, and members of the public liked what they saw and the friendly atmosphere."
Unlike many other clubs in the area, Cowdenbeath Bowling Club does not charge for meals, as these expenses for friendly games are included in the annual membership.
This is £140 per person for full access to the club facilities and all competitions and friendly games, as well as the chance to represent the club in external competitions.
The club has been "very successful" in the past and continues to compete well, with a good honours board and photographs on display.
Social membership is available for £20 and allows access to the bar facilities, but not playing bowls.
The club's hall is "beautifully decorated" and is suitable for parties for up to 80 people.
The club has tried to boost membership in the past with local letter drops and school initiatives, and offered the chance to try the game at no cost to see if new members could be tempted along, with limited success.
This year, they have introduced an offer to people who have not been members of a bowling club in the West Fife area in the past three years; full membership for only £50 per person, or £80 if a couple join.
The bowling season starts on Saturday, April 5, and lasts until the first Saturday in October.
There are functions throughout the year and a poker league, as well as a Sunday club where members play darts, dominoes, and carpet bowls during the close season from October to April.
