A couple has joined Cowdenbeath Rotary Club to help promote activities in the area and abroad.

Fiona and Ray Poole, from Dunfermline, were welcomed as new recruits on Thursday night.

Club president Hank John was pleased to renew an acquaintance with Fiona, who worked for him at his Inverkeithing travel agency four decades ago.

After moving to Hungerford, Berkshire, Fiona joined the local rotary club.

Mr John told club members: "Fiona met Ray, who spent 34 years serving in the Royal Navy, and the couple recently moved back to Fife.

"I was delighted when I met them to hear they were still interested in the work of rotary and they were pleased to join up at our club."

The induction ceremony was conducted by past president John Gilfillan, who welcomed them aboard.

The couple expressed their enthusiasm to assist with the club's local and international projects.
