Soup and sandwiches are a success at Cardenden drop-in

Started in January 2018 it's proved a real success story with members of the community rallying together to provide locals with a place to chat, get some advice, a bite to eat and a cuppa. 

With warming soup, filling sandwiches and tasty cakes, it runs every Tuesday, from 11am to 1pm, in the church hall in Cardenden. 

There's also guidance and help with issues such as Universal Credit, housing concerns, energy bills and general money worries, while donated food and drink is available too.

Convener Rosemary Wallace said: "The volunteers and attendees celebrated seven years of the drop-in opening their doors to support the local community, providing a warm welcome to everyone from 9 months to 99 years!

"We were one of the first community groups to offer this service, with soup, sandwiches and delicious cakes provided by our volunteers, using some Fareshare provisions donated by the local Tesco Express. 

"We have never charged for our lunches but really appreciate donations given by those who can. We're looking forward to the next seven years!"
