A Cardenden drink-driver crashed into a parked vehicle when he was almost five times over the legal limit.

The culprit was Grant Kempson, 53, of Cluny Park, who has appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on March 3 at Cardenden Road, Cardenden, he drove a car with excess alcohol.

His reading was 108 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the limit being 22 microgrammes.

He also admitted that having been involved in a collision with a stationary car he failed to give his details.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said the collision occurred at around 5.20pm and Kempson had not stopped.

The owner of the damaged car went outside and found the vehicle was scraped along the side and had a damaged tyre.

A neighbour also went outside to see what had happened and checked their CCTV which showed Kempson’s Skoda Fabia hitting the parked vehicle.

Kempson then returned to the scene where he was accused of causing the crash but denied it saying, “I never hit any car.”

He was described as having slurred speech and being unsteady on his feet.

He was spoken to by police officers when they arrived and he said, “But I’m not driving a car.”

The depute said the car struck by Kempson had been written off because of the damage and there was still £1,500 of finance to be paid on it.

Sheriff Garry Sutherland deferred sentencing until May 14 to find out more about the damage to the car and the costs involved.

Kempson is on an interim driving ban until sentencing.
