A DUNFERMLINE woman has signed up for the Race for Life after her life-changing weight loss journey.

Andrea Reid, a proud Slimming World member who would avoid mirrors and being in photographs before her transformation, has lost an astonishing 7st 3.5lbs over the last 12 months.

She's now signed up to take part in this year's Race for Life.

The weight loss was prompted by her son, who was concerned that she wasn’t her usual fun, exciting and energetic former self. Realising she wasn't the mum she wanted to be, she decided to join Samantha Moat's Slimming World group at the City Hotel in Dunfermline.

Andrea said: “At the group, I learned about food and preparation, so much so that the excuses of time, money or taste were taken away.

"It’s much more affordable, the recipes, of which there are thousands, are quick, convenient and super easy to make covering all my favourite meals. The family love them too as they’re bursting with flavour and we are in total control of the amount and the taste."

Andrea had previously been active, but struggled with breathing, joints and knees pain, and her doctor advised that she was at risk of Diabetes and high blood pressure.

She now enjoys the great outdoors and participates in activities from wild swimming, spinning, hiking and is currently preparing for the Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research. She'll be taking part at the event in Kirkcaldy's Beveridge Park on Sunday, May 12.

Samantha, whose group meets at the City Hotel on Thursdays at various times between 7.30am and 7pm, and at St Margaret's Parish Church on Fridays at 7.15am and 8.45am, said Andrea was "super supportive" of the other members.

She added: "Andrea is a fantastic enthusiastic individual and we all look forward to her honest updates and new adventures."
