A CLOSING party to mark the start of work to revamp Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre is to take place.

The event will will give staff, instructors and visitors the chance to say farewell to the current facility before the renovations begin.

With work due to begin on April 15, the closing party will he held on Saturday, April 13.

The centre will be out of action for around 14 months for an £8 million refurbishment and alternative arrangements are being put in place.

The project will refurbish and enhance the dry-side facilities, extend the gym space and create studio and library spaces.

The outdoor astroturf pitches will also be replaced with one larger synthetic pitch, and there will be more accessibility throughout the building.

As part of the project, the town’s library will move from the High Street into the centre.
