A COWDENBEATH councillor who is "fed up" with roadworks and delays has said there's more traffic pain on the way.

Darren Watt took to Facebook to air his frustrations and inform local residents another project is likely to have a "huge impact" in the town.

Signs are already up stating that Scottish Water will begin seven days of works next week.

He said: "Who else is fed up with ongoing roadworks and constant delays?

"Well I'm afraid I've got some bad news.

"Scottish Water are scheduled to commence works at the north end of Cowdenbeath High Street on Tuesday March 19.

"Unfortunately, I do not have further details at this time.

"This will likely have a huge impact on traffic from the High Street, the retail park, Perth Road and Foulford Road."

Cllr Watt added: "On a positive note, the works on Perth Road adjacent to AJ's Takeaway will be completed by then.

"Please note, Fife Council nor I have the powers or legislation to prevent or 'hurry up' such works.

"Fife Council can only ensure the road and footpaths are fully restored to an acceptable standard upon completion of works.

"As a local resident and regular road user, I know all too well the profound impact such works has on our daily lives and the frustration they cause, especially when we see no works being carried out, sometimes for days at a time.

"Although the council have minimal say, I will be raising this with relevant transportation officers to discuss these concerns and emphasis the general annoyance and anger from local people."
