A new Fife charity is looking to create events that will boost the local economy and reinvest in the community.

Cowdenbeath Events Crew currently has four volunteers and aims to raise money for developments in the area. The group hopes to run their first events this summer and are now looking to recruit more volunteers to help them make these plans a reality.

Stuart Duffy, chair of the trustees with the group, commented: “So we have got four volunteers at the minute. We have had a lot of admin to do in the background, getting registered with OSCR (charity regulator), and getting a bank account registered.”

Events Crew attended Cowdenbeath Volunteering Day on Saturday (March 9) at the Maxwell Centre. At the event, people were able to learn more about the group and their work, and even sign up to work with them.

Stuart added: “We’ve been learning lots over the past year from inspirational organisations, like Benarty Events Group and our hardworking Gala committee, about what works well and where the gaps and opportunities might be.

“We think there’s a place for a group which compliments the amazing community spirit in Cowdenbeath and places an emphasis on doing social good – really developing volunteers, creating places and events for community togetherness and raising funds to invest in the town.”
