A 42-year-old Lochore man, caught growing cannabis in his home, has now been put on a restriction of liberty order.

James Purdie, of Lochleven Road, had originally been put on a structured deferred sentence but had not been complying. As a result, he returned to Dunfermline Sheriff Court to be sentenced again.

Purdie previously admitted that on January 15, last year, at his home he was producing a controlled drug, cannabis. He also admitted being in possession diamorphine and cannabis.

Police acting on information sought and executed a search warrant at Purdie’s home. They found 16 cannabis plants in a bedroom as well as fans, lighting units and timing equipment. Officers also found £1055 in cash under a mattress.

Defence solicitor Alan Davie said his client had been “struggling” on the structured deferred sentence.

Sheriff Francis Gill imposed a new sentence, putting Purdie on a three-month restriction of liberty order.
