A woman called the police when she saw her grand-daughter had come to her home with a knife.

Kayleigh Webster, 34, formerly of Lochtyburn Avenue, Ballingry, now of Skye Road, Dunfermline, has now been sentenced for the offence.

She admitted that on August 30, at an address in Dunfermline, she was unlawfully in possession of a knife.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson told Dunfermline Sheriff Court that Webster’s gran had called 999 after seeing the knife.

Webster told her she was carrying the knife “for her own protection” added the depute.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “Her grandmother had been concerned for the well-being of her grand-daughter.

“She hasn’t had her troubles to seek. She’s had a drug problem and her circumstances were fairly chaotic at the time.”

Sheriff Francis Gill imposed a community payback order with 12 months of supervision.
