A COWDENBEATH councillor has addressed various issues that were raised at a recent Community Council meeting.

Cllr Darren Watt has not only highlighted these concerns but he has worked to reassure those who raised them at the meeting on February 15.

One issue that was raised was the concerns over inconsiderate and dangerous parking in the village and how it may worsen when the Stockcar season begins again. Cllr Watt told the Times: "Local councillors and the Community Council will be working alongside the stockcar hosts as well as local police and traffic enforcement just to ensure that any inconvenience and disruption is kept to a minimum.

"At the end of the day, we’re blessed enough to have over 500 parking spaces all free of charge, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, so there's absolutely no excuse for anybody, regardless of where they’re coming from, to park in a dangerous and inconsiderate manner. "

He also addressed concerns over the effectiveness of the CCTV on Cowdenbeath's High Street, continuing: "There was a query that was raised at the community council last month regarding whether the CCTV was working, effective and how best it can be utilised.

"PC Williamson was also in attendance and he was able to give us the reassurance that it is well used, it's in perfect working order and it has been effective in identifying incidents that have happened in recent months."

Finally, he confirmed that the issues regarding the poor resurfacing works on Woodend Place have been rectified.

He added: "There have been ongoing issues there with the tar that's been left on the road and pavements, the chippings that have then caused damage to cars but also more recently getting in amongst the paws of a couple of dogs which resulted in them having to visit a vet to get treated.

"That was something that I took back to the relevant spokesperson at Fife Council, Cllr Craik, and we followed that up and I believe that this has been addressed."
