Cowdenbeath Civic Week are currently looking for people to take on the roles of treasurer and secretary.

The treasurer’s role requires someone who would be able to administer and maintain the group’s bank account.

Ideally, the person would have a good understanding of basic accounting principles and practices so they could produce financial reports, and create, maintain, and track budgets.

The secretary role requires someone with good organisational and administrative skills, who has experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, and with emails and social media. They will also need good communication skills.

They visited CACA Junior Youth Club on February 16 to speak to children and ask for their ideas on what this year’s theme should be. In the end, they decided to go with the theme ‘Down on the Farm’.

Cowden in the Community have also agreed to help the group with the organisation of the Jackie Allen Primary School 5-a-side football tournament this year again. The boys and girls finals will be played on the Gala Day.

And Cowdenbeath Civic Week will be reaching out to local groups and schools in the coming weeks to see if they would like to be in the parade. The parade will leave Williamsons Haulage at the top of the town as usual, and will make its way to the activities at the Beath playing fields.

They are now taking applications for stalls for the Gala Market and inviting food vendors to get in touch if they are interested in taking part.

If you are interested in either of the roles available, you can email the group at civicweekenquiries@outlook.com or message them on X, Instagram, or Facebook.

The group will also be attending the My Cowdenbeath Volunteer event at the Maxwell Centre on Saturday, March 9 from 12.30-3pm where they will be available for a chat.

This year’s Cowdenbeath Children’s Gala will take place on Sunday, June 9.
