A 22-year-old man caused £2000-worth of damage to his parents’ door, attacking it with a shovel.

Aidan Early was angry after being locked out by his dad during a row.

Early, now of Pentland Terrace, High Valleyfield, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on November 28 at an address in Crosshill, he struck a door with a shovel, punched it and caused panes of glass to smash.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said Early had come out of his bedroom and asked his dad to take him to a local shop so he could buy alcohol and vapes.

When his dad refused, Early became angry, demanding again to be taken there. His mother heard the commotion and went to see what was happening.

When Early went outside for a moment, his dad locked the door. Early then picked up a shovel and started hitting the front door with it.

He smashed glass in the door and the damage was valued at £2000.

The court was told Early had now paid the cost of the damage and Sheriff Wylie Robertson admonished him.
