FIFE COUNCIL officers will be attending the Benarty Community Council meeting at Benarty Community Centre on Thursday.

The officers will be giving a presentation on the extensive flooding issues in the Benarty area, the meeting is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend and voice their concerns.

Flooding has been an issue in this area for generations, in November The Times reported that remedial work would be carried out by the Council to try and improve flooding in Ballingry but could not promise a solution.

Cllr Rosemary Liewald, councillor for the Lochgelly, Cardenden and Benarty area, said: "Benarty has its own issues with flooding and they’re quite extensive.

"There has to be a massive, extensive programme of work that is going to tackle that. "

Despite receiving a workshop on the flooding issues, Cllr Liewald has said that elected members don't have the expertise to pass the information on, therefore Fife Council officers would be attending to address the community.

The meeting will begin at 6.30pm and is open to the public.
