A 38-year-old man with a “very bad record” threatened police officers with violence in Cardenden.
In the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court was Danny Moffat, of Laurence Park, Kinglassie.
He admitted that on May 15, at Cardenden Road, Cardenden, he repeatedly shouted and swore at police officers, made threats of violence towards them and behaved in an aggressive manner.
He also assaulted two police officers by striking them on the body.
Depute fiscal Catherine Stevenson said at 1.15am police were contacted about an incident involving Moffat.
When the officers arrived, Moffat became hostile, swearing at them and threatenhing to throw them over a wall.
He continued to make threats saying “I’ll batter the both of you” and he ended up being arrested. He then lashed out assaulting the officers.
Defence solicitor Heather Morrison said: “He doesn’t have much recollection of it as he was very intoxicated at the time. Alcohol seems to be the problem.”
Sheriff Charles Macnair told Moffat: “You’ve got a very bad record of violence but I’m prepared to give you one chance at a non-custodial sentence.”
He imposed a community payback order with 300 hours of unpaid work and warned if the order was breached Moffat could expect to be sent to prison.
