AS part of their Festive Cheer campaign, Cowdenbeath Rotary Club has donated £500 to the two local foodbanks.

The campaign is about helping people of all age groups, at Christmas time, so the Rotarians have made donations totalling £900 to various groups.

These include £250 to each of Cowdenbeath and Benarty Foodbanks, along with £100 to Lochgelly Salvation Army and £100 to Cowdenbeath Salvation Army.

There is also £100 being donated to Cowdenbeath Area Community Association (CACA) with a view to selection boxes being given to the children at the Beath High School-based youth project, and on Thursday CACA’S Alex Haddow was at the club’s meeting to collect the cheque.

Rotary Club president, John Gilfillan, said: “We have been fortunate to be able to raise some funds during our centenary events, and it is only right that during the festive season we are able to assist local organisations, who help all age groups.

“Our local foodbanks are facing a difficult time as Christmas approaches, and they deserve assistance, while our Salvation Army organisations are key to helping older people in particular, at this time of year, while CACA provides fun for well over 100 youngsters.”
