A 32-year-old man left a knife sticking into a wooden pole next to a shop in Cardenden when he was intoxicated.
Serial offender Zak Paterson, of Castle Rigg, Kinghorn, appeared for sentencing Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on March 3 last year at Cardenden Road, Cardenden, he repeatedly struck a wooden post with a knife.
The court was told that at 7am a woman arrived to open up the shop where she worked.
A delivery driver was there and told her there was a large knife stuck into a wooden pole next to the shop.
She contacted the police and when CCTV was viewed it showed Paterson repeatedly stabbing at the pole with the knife.
Defence solicitor David McLaughlin said it was a “bizarre” offence committed when his client was intoxicated.
The court heard Paterson has a lengthy record with around 30 previous convictions.
Sheriff Garry Sutherland told Paterson: “Your record does you no credit whatsoever.”
He imposed a structured deferred sentence and Paterson will return to court on March 2.
