A charity concert will be held in Lochgelly to help raise funds for those affected by a devastating fire.

As previously reported in the Times, 12 properties were evacuated when a block of flats on Francis Street caught ablaze.

Nobody was injured but a rest centre was temporarily set up in Lochgelly Town Hall for those affected.

Now the West End Bar in Lochgelly is holding a charity concert. Amy Innes, events and media management at the West End Bar, said people can expect: “A very good Sunday sesh for one, we have four amazing singers followed by karaoke.”

Performers include Joe Yates, Ryan McGuinness, Jimmy Jack, and Alison Halliday. There will also be karaoke with Ali.

The event is donation upon entry and there will also be raffle tickets on sale. Amy added: “The fire hit us all quite hard with it being quite close.

“The singers are all doing it off their own backs, they’re not taking any money, and the businesses are doing it for free too.”

There is no set donation fee for entry. Amy added that it’s “Just what people want to donate, just this time of year we don’t want to be telling people you need to pay this to get into your local.”

Raffle prizes include a £50 voucher for Emperors Attic, a four ball from Lochgelly Golf Club, and a meal for two voucher from Wee Jimmies.

Demolition work on the flats started on Friday, November 24.

Garry Nicoll, Fife Council’s service manager for building standards and safety, said on Friday: “We visited the site earlier this week and, due to forecast windy conditions which may have compromised loose material on the roof of the flats, we took the decision to start full demolition work as soon as possible. Work is starting today and will continue into next week.”

The charity concert will take place this Sunday, December 3 from 2pm to close.
