A POPULAR Lochgelly dessert parlour and sweet shop has reversed its decision to close its doors.

Heavenly Delights had announced its intention to shut on November 12 after the shop had been up for sale with no real interest for some time.

However, after hearing feedback from scores of customers, it will now stay open with some alterations to its current operating times.

Posting on Facebook, the store's owners said they had listened and now planned to stay.

They stated: "A few weeks ago we announced that we had decided to close the shop due to a number of issues that every small business knows only too well these days – rising costs of pretty much everything including materials, fuel, electricity, insurance, packaging coupled with supply issues since Covid meant that running a business is now harder than ever.

"We are lucky that we were able to weather that storm and keep our head above water, however, the biggest issue for us was the amount of time it takes to keep everything running smoothly.

"We are a family business and it's difficult to have quality family time as someone always has to be working to keep the shop open. We have worked a crazy amount of hours over the last six and a half years that Heavenly Delights has been open, and it takes its toll.

"Since we made the announcement recently, we have been closed a few nights a week and this has allowed us quality time off and a chance to gather our thoughts and re-evaluate our situation.

"We will be making some changes, mainly by having a few days closed each week to allow us all time to recharge, so after our holiday in November we will be opening Thursday to Monday and closed Tuesday and Wednesday."

The team said they have been overwhelmed but the number of people getting in touch following the initial decision telling them how much they would be missed.

"We can't thank you all enough for your kind words and comments and for giving us the push to not only continue, but hopefully make Heavenly Delights even better than ever," they added.

"We are so thankful for all your support over the years and we look forward to many more to come."
