A national career service is changing its location to be more accessible to customers.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is moving to the Maxwell Centre on Stenhouse Street in Cowdenbeath. The careers service will make the move on Friday, October 20.

SDS is making the move to become more accessible to customers and to make their career services more centralised. SDS helps people improve employability and work-based skills in schools and within communities.

It supports people whether they are looking to get into employment, change career or even re-join the workforce after a career break.

Evonne Boyd, SDS head of of operations north east, said: "Our professionally qualified careers advisors are moving into the Maxwell Centre where they will provide expert services in a popular community space which is fully accessible and has onsite childcare facilities.

"We'll be up and running from Friday, October 20, and be available for customer appointments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 4.30pm."

The careers team will move out of their current premises at The Yard, 411 High Street on the same day. The new location is well served by parking, bus and the nearby train station.

Customers also have the option to access SDS's services in nearby Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline.

Anne-Marie Vance, Fife Council's community manager for the Cowdenbeath area, said: "We look forward to welcoming Skills Development Scotland to their new home within the Maxwell Centre.

"One of our priorities is to improve the wrap-around support that we're able to provide to the community and having SDS work more closely with us means local people will find it easier to access co-ordinated help when they need it most."

Anyone looking to get in touch with the SDS team can do so on 01383 745 610 on weekdays between 9am and 5pm.
