UPDATED plans will be unveiled for a large housing development on farmland in Crossgates.

A second public consultation event - the first was held in July - will take place in the village community centre tomorrow (Friday).

The applicants, Persimmon Homes and landowners Mr and Mrs David Orr, of Keirsbeath Farms Ltd, are hoping the plans will be backed by locals.

Feedback will be provided from the previous event in July and updated proposals will be on show between 3pm and 7pm.

The development was previously being taken forward in partnership with Miller Homes, who wanted to build 165 houses on 8.7 hectares of land at the northern edge of the village, but it was confirmed in the summer that they had been replaced.

Fife Council said the site, which is between Old Perth Road and Manse Road, could take up to 200 new homes.

It's primarily a grass field used for agriculture but also contains the existing farm complex, although not the farmhouse, of Mains of Beath Farm.

Earlier this year Persimmon confirmed that they would be "bringing forward exciting plans for new homes, jobs and investment in Crossgates".

The second consultation event was originally scheduled to go ahead on September 1 but it was postponed as the applicants needed "additional time to progress a development layout".

If approved the proposed residential development will also include new access roads, a sustainable urban drainage system (SUDS), landscaping and other associated works.

A full planning application is expected after the consultation period has finished.
