Plans are afoot for a Lochgelly dental surgery to merge with its sister practice in Kelty.

It is understood that the Family Dental Health in Lochgelly will merge with the Kelty Dental Practice.

No jobs are believed to be affected by the possible change which would see the Lochgelly practice close.

Fife Health and Social Care Partnership’s Lisa Cooper confirmed they were aware of the possible merger.

“Family Dental Health in Lochgelly and Kelty Dental Practice are both operated by Real Good Dental, who own a number of other practices in Fife," she said.

“We recently became aware of the planned merger of both practices and are working with the management to ensure that their terms of service contract is fulfilled.

“The practices are also obliged to ensure that patients are appropriately notified of the planned changes, made aware of the options available to them and provided with information on cover arrangements to ensure the quality of service is maintained during the transition period.”

Real Good Dental were contacted by the Times but did not respond to our request for a statement.
