RAIN or shine the party was on as the fourth annual Robert Smith Court garden party took place in Lumphinnans last Saturday.

It defied the unpredictable weather with a record attendance at this year's event.

And the organisers, the Robert Smith Court Community Group, were delighted to see so many families and children involved in the fun day.

Spokesperson Mark Davies told the Times: “A big thanks, as usual, went to Gary Fleming and the Lumphinnans Community Bowling Club, for the use of their facilities and for their fabulous and enduring support.

“And also a big thanks to our fabulous gardener, Stuart, from GSP Grounds Maintenance, for getting our gardens pristine and ready for the party."

The music was provided by Zoe Richards, who played all the right tunes to get the party going – and the residents dancing.

Mark smiled: “We were honoured to be joined by Councillor Mary Lockhart, who had some impressive dance moves herself!

“It was also great to see a contingent from the Lumphinnans Community Council attend, always giving us their unwavering support."

He also praised Evelyn and Jodie, from the committee, as well as Tony and Lynne, who did a grand job providing the BBQ and refreshments for the many hungry mouths.

In fact it was so popular they twice had to go back to the shops to replenish their supply of burgers and hot dogs.

Mrk added: “But what a day. It was great to see our community enjoying themselves, forming and forging new relationships with neighbours.

“We have come a long way since the founding of our community group more than four years ago.

“We have delivered numerous large projects to lift the area. The most recent being the community wild garden, which was finished earlier this year and was kindly funded by a grant from The Four Winds Trust.

“We are proud to say that Robert Smith Court is truly a great and safe place to live. And every year we just get that little bit stronger. Roll on garden party 2024!”
