A LOCAL councillor is hopping on her bike and pedalling 30 miles for Lo'gelly Lunches.

Lochgelly, Cardenden and Benarty cllr Rosemary Liewald, and friend Aileen Christie, will soon cycle around Loch Leven to raise money for the community initiative.

Aileen volunteers for the charity based at Lochgelly Town Hall, whilst Rosemary has seen first-hand the impact it has had on local people.

For that reason the pair are set to take on the cycling challenge on Saturday, September 9.

Rosemary said: "Lo'gelly Lunches has become an integral part of the much-needed support which is given to anyone in difficulty.

"Over the years of the pandemic, it became the lifeline for many in our communities offering that much-needed resource of a good hot meal.

"However, it has grown to become a place of recovery in mind and soul for many.

"It offers companionship and a feeling of inclusion.

"In these times of hardship with the cost of living crisis biting harder than ever I want to add the little bit extra that I know will make a huge difference to allow this group to continue doing the amazing work they do.

"On September 9, myself and Aileen from Lo'gelly Lunches will be doing a cycle of 30 miles around Loch Leven; this will require us cycling the loch twice, so wish us luck.

"With your donations, this much-needed work can continue.

"I welcome any amount you can add to the GoFundMe page and my huge heartfelt thanks to everyone."
