A NEW wrestling promotion hoping to become one of the most recognised in the UK is coming to Lochgelly again.

Scotia Pro Wrestling (SPW) was founded earlier this year and is running its Summer Madness event at Lochgelly Centre on Friday, August 18.

The company, based in Dundee, will crown the first SPW Heavyweight Champion on the night, with more matches set to be announced soon.

Shaun Garwood, co-business owner with Lisa Manzie, commented: "This is our second show, and our first show, Thy Kingdom Come, was a great success at Lochgelly Centre.

"We've had absolutely phenomenal feedback and tickets are already selling fast for this show.

"We want to run a wrestling company that is for everyone, and not based on backstage politics and the territories.

"We want everything to be fresh and interesting, using new talent people haven't seen before. We want to give the youngsters a chance.

"We're finding our feet this year, but we'll be keeping our storylines fresh as I said, and we'll then start to push the boundaries a little next year.

"We pride ourselves on being open to anyone and welcoming everyone in. We want you to feel part of the family and to have a great and safe time with us."

Lisa also told the Times: "I have been attending wrestling shows for 11-plus years.

"My son David Manzie (Alex Clark) is a wrestler and has trained for five years now.

"Shaun is my best friend who I met through wrestling and he has done so much for my son within wrestling.

"So when Shaun and I spoke about starting our own promotion it was something I jumped at the chance to do.

"My role in the company is co-owner and run the front of house at shows.

"Our shows are family-friendly and have a variety of talent on shows from the up-and-coming young talent to veterans of the business.

"Our first show was absolutely amazing and had so much positive feedback from fans who are excited for our next show.

"Fan favourites have already been made with Lucha DS being hugely popular.

"We are both excited about what's to come for Scotia Pro Wrestling, and can't wait to bring the action back to Lochgelly on August 18."
