A TEACHER has been accused of telling students about buying porn for her husband and promoting offensive language in the classroom while working at Beath High School.

There are claims the unnamed female teacher also mocked a pupil for having dyslexia, used racist language, and portrayed drugs and alcohol in a positive light.

A series of allegations being investigated by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) are said to have taken place between December 2017 and February 2018, while the woman was employed by Fife Council as a teacher of English at the Cowdenbeath school.

These include showing a number of videos in lessons which were not approved by the school, were not relevant to the classes being taught, included offensive language, and were not age appropriate.

She is also said to have made comments regarding God which were upsetting to pupils in her class, as well as using and allowing the use of the word "n*****".

A GTCS panel will decide if the accused's fitness to teach is impaired as a result of breaching Parts 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, 3.1 and 5.1 of the General Teaching Council for Scotland Code of Professionalism and Conduct 2012 during a hearing to take place this week and on further dates in May.

Sharon McKenzie, Fife Council's Head of HR, said: "As a responsible employer, we don't discuss the individual circumstances of any current or former employees."
