A 34-year-old man hit his mum’s door with a hammer and also broke into the home of one of her neighbours.

Connor McGill, of no fixed abode, was jailed when he appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on July16 last year he broke into a dwelling house in Fountain Place, Cowdenbeath, and stole a quantity of alcohol and a sum of money.

Then on March 17 at his mum’s home in Fountain Place, he shouted, swore, demanded entry and struck a door with a hammer.

He also admitted that on April 2 he breached an undertaking by entering Fountain Place.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said that the housebreaking took place at the home of a neighbour of McGill’s mum.

McGill had broken into the property and stole £920 as well as alcohol.

Defence solicitor Shona Westwood said her client was intoxicated at the time of the offences and had broken into the house looking for more alcohol.

Sheriff Charles Macnair jailed McGill for 12 months.
