CHANGE is coming at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre as public swimming at popular hours returns.

Fife Sports and Leisure Trust has announced that greater access will be given following a consultation period.

Research was carried out in areas set to benefit from greater access – Cupar, St Andrews and Dalgety Bay, Cowdenbeath and Burntisland with more than 1,000 people questioned, 47 local community groups and sports clubs as well as 11 elected officials from the consulted areas.

Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre will now see the reintroduction of public swimming between Noon and 3pm.

The trust will be releasing further details of the when the opening hours will be implemented and the range of activities and programmes on offer.

Emma Walker, chief executive of Fife Sports and Leisure Trust said: “I’d like to thank all those who took part in the consultation and for their contribution to a very thorough consultation process.

“The results of the consultation are important for the trust and will drive forward our planning and delivery over the coming months – not only on the additional hours but on the wider relationship with communities to encourage greater participation in physical activity.

"Customers attendances are going to be crucial in the long-term viability of the increased timetables.”
