A CARDENDEN man, put on a court order for assaulting female police officer near Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, cannot complete his unpaid work because of anxiety.

Dean Torrance, 24, of Denfield Drive, had been shouting and swearing at Rangers’ football ground before the assault.

He had been sentenced in Glasgow but the case came to Dunfermline Sheriff Court with the unpaid work not completed.

Torrance was convicted of two offences committed on May 15, 2021.

On various occasions that day at Ibrox Stadium, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing.

At Govan Road, Glasgow, he assaulted a female police officer by pushing her into a fence to her injury.

Defence solicitor David McLaughlin said: “He’s been struggling with the unpaid work environment and it causes him anxiety.

“He’s done 91 hours and still has 69 hours still to do. He’d be more comfortable with a restriction of liberty order, he tells me.”

Sheriff Susan Duff revoked the order with unpaid work and replaced it with a four-month restriction of liberty order.
