DIVERSIONS and a contraflow system will be in place as £300,000 roadworks start at Cowdenbeath.

Amey is carrying out road surfacing improvements to a section of the A92 at Cowdenbeath from Friday, April 28 to Monday, May 1.

The six-figure project will address defects on 545 metres of the A92 road surface at the Cowdenbeath junction on the southbound carriageway.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out using a contraflow system.

Traffic management will be in operation from 7.30pm on Friday, April 28 until 6.30am on Monday, May 1, whilst the resurfacing takes place.

The A92 southbound onslip at Cowdenbeath will be closed for the duration of the works.

Traffic wishing to join the A92 southbound will be diverted via the A909/B925 through Crossgates to the Crossgates Roundabout.

An advance signing strategy will also be in place to allow A92 southbound traffic to seek alternative routes in advance of the works area.

The resurfacing, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, and it is claimed that it will benefit more than 31,000 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.

This scheme is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
