THE family of a woman from Ballingry who died from Motor Neurone Disease (MND) have donated to NHS Fife in her memory.

Sheila Ross passed away last year and was provided with specialist treatment and support from the health board.

Sheila's family held a fundraising event in Lochore to raise funds for MND and although Sheila was highly involved in the organising of the event, sadly, she died shortly before it took place.

The money raised has been donated to the MND nurse-led service.

The family of Rose Clarkson, from Glenrothes, also contributed to the cause.

Rose also sadly died from MND last year, and after being discharged from hospital, she was able to go home and was provided end of life care with the help from using a portable suction machine for symptom management.

Rose and Sheila were given specialist care by MND clinical nurse specialists Louise Gardiner and Kim Kelly.

The generosity from both their families was highlighted by Louise, who commented: "We are very grateful to both Rose and Sheila's families.

"This donation will help us provide timely symptom management in the community for patients across Fife living with MND.

"It was a privilege to have cared for both Rose and Sheila, as well as their families."
